Between 8th-15th of September, in Bucharest, the Tiriac Foundation is organizing the Tiriac Foundation Trophy – a world-class tennis tournament. It will take place at Centrul Național de Tenis (Pierre de Coubertin Boulevard 11, Bucharest), outdoors, on clay.

The Tiriac Foundation Trophy is the only WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) tournament scheduled to take place in Bucharest.

“The planning of this tournament represents the sum of the efforts made to keep Bucharest on the international map of tennis tournaments. The purpose of the Țiriac Foundation is to encourage the practice of sports among young people, and the organization of this competition complements the Foundation’s mission. Here, after a three-year break, the initiative of the Țiriac Foundation makes Bucharest, once again, the host of a world-class sport. I will certainly do everything possible to ensure that this tournament has continuity, because it provides confidence to Romanian tennis”, declared Ion Țiriac.

The WTA 125 tournament in Bucharest will have a main single draw with 32 players and a double draw with 8 teams. The competition offers total prize money of $115,000 and 160 WTA ranking points for the champion.
